One of the reasons many people look into franchising is because it’s an opportunity to be in business for yourself, but not by yourself. Because of the similarity of their businesses, owners can share a lot of great advice and best practices with each other.
Each year i9 Sports® owners from all over the country meet in Tampa, Florida, to celebrate their successes, discuss new ideas, and build relationships with their peers. Tampa is where our headquarters are based, and it’s a fun vacation destination for entrepreneurs who are taking a long weekend away.

Here’s a look at what you can expect from the 2023 i9 Sports Convention in Tampa. It’s a mix of learning, socializing, and fun.
Convention events
In honor of our 20th anniversary, our theme this year is Delivering Excellence.
We’ll have roundtables, with multiple sessions so that attendees can choose more than one topic. We’ll also have “tracks,” organized by size, region, and staff. These personalized tracks allow attendees to focus on their particular area of interest.
One of our popular sessions breaks out groups by revenue tiers, where owners can discuss their businesses with peers. For example, the concerns of a multi-unit owner looking to expand further aren’t the same concerns as a brand-new owner opening a first location.
With the revenue breakouts, owners can give and receive specific advice. We’ll also have a panel with top franchise performers, who will discuss their experiences.
Social hours
Another benefit of attending the convention in Tampa is to meet other people and socialize. We’ll have cocktail hours and an awards luncheon, both with opportunities to talk with new and old friends.
There are opportunities to socialize before and after the convention events. We have an early morning Running Club for those who want to exercise before the day’s meetings.
Owners can meet with members of the leadership team at the convention, including i9 Sports President Brian Sanders, EVP Matt Kurowski, and Senior VP Chris Snyder. In addition, the Home Office team will have a Q&A where franchisees can chat with them in person.

Fun in Florida
In the past, we’ve heard a lot of love for our convention location in Tampa. It’s a very popular vacation destination, with many activities to choose from. Because convention events usually wrap up around 5 p.m., there’s plenty of time for attendees to explore the city and its attractions.
While the Tampa Bay area is known for its beautiful white-sand beaches, there are many fun things to do, including:
- Aquariums, theme parks, and dolphin tours.
- Boating, golf, and outdoor activities.
- Art museums and history tours.
- World-class shopping and great restaurants, including delicious Cuban cuisine.
