The country’s first and largest youth sports league franchise sets roots in Stone Mountain
TAMPA, Fla., Nov 4, 2016 – i9 Sports recently awarded the Stone Mountain, Georgia territory to Joi Barkley of Stone Mountain as part of its franchise expansion program.
“I am most excited about making a difference in my community. I have an opportunity to help the children of my community foster an appreciation for sports and hard work, as well as teach healthy and wholesome ways to have fun,” said Barkley. “Many families in this area are in the minority, which reflects my own background, so as a resident of DeKalb County, I have an intense desire to see children and families thrive.”
Barkley’s son started playing t-ball for i9 Sports when he was three years old, which is when she first learned of the franchise. After being involved as a customer, Barkley felt there was an incredible opportunity to bring i9 Sports into her own community.
“We would like to welcome Joi Barkley to the i9 Sports franchise system,” said Brian Sanders, i9 Sports president and chief executive officer. “i9 Sports is excited about the opening of the Stone Mountain territory and we look forward to expanding into more territories like it in 2017.”
i9 Sports currently operates more than 750 territories across the U.S., from New York to Hawaii, with more than 1.4 million players all time participating in leagues and camps in today’s most popular team sports.
Founded in 2003 by Frank Fiume, i9 Sports was built on the principle that kids play organized sports to have fun, not to become the next draft pick, which is why the i9 Sports Experience emphasizes fun, safety and convenience, as well as teaching the value of sportsmanship.
