What do the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and i9 Sports have in common? A desire to see kids stay in sports and experience the benefits of playing, learning and growing. This month on The i9 Sports® Show we had a conversation with Chris Snyder, Director of Coaching Education at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee. While you may be unfamiliar with the American Development Model and how important it is to the future of youth sports, this is a discussion every parent, coach and athlete should hear!
The American Development Model is a “concerted effort between the United States Olympic Committee and its National Governing Bodies of sport to apply long-term athlete development principles in a way that resonates with a culture of sport in the United States.” The key principles of universal access to sports for all kids, quality coaching, developmentally appropriate instruction, multi-sport activity and a fun, engaging atmosphere are exactly what i9 Sports is all about. This is the way youth sports should be®!
You’ll also hear from i9 Sports franchisees Walter and Sandra Reaves of Savannah, Georgia. The retired veterans talk about how their backgrounds in logistics and management help them provide a better youth sports experience for their community. As always, the podcast also includes the latest Sportsmanship Shoutouts.
